Marketing budgets are shrinking, but expectations aren't. Sound familiar?

A recent Gartner study shows CMOs are dealing with 15% budget cuts in 2024. And in this stressful environment,  AI is stepping up as the go-to solution for doing more with less for marketers.

In fact, Brandwatch reports that 92% of marketing professionals see AI integration as this year's top trend. So, in this blog, you will find the biggest AI news of June and tools that will help marketers in your day-to-day tasks.

Major News

Meta creates 5 AI models

It seems that Mark is tired of AI generated images of himself as a lizard (Don’t google it) and decided to take matters into his own hands. From 5 of those AIs we will cover only those that might be better applicable for marketing purposes.

Chameleon (What a coincidence 😀) is a family of models that can generate both text and related images at the same time.

JASCO is a text-to-music model that can create music from a number of inputs, not limiting to simply textual prompts. You can also use various chords and beats as your prompt, so it generally gives you more control over the output.

Text-to-image diversity aims to make image generation more geographically accurate and simply put, less racially biased.

Apple launches AI (Apple Intelligence)

Apple has announced an integration of AI with the IOS system, called "Apple Intelligence," in partnership with OpenAI. It will enhance Siri's capabilities and offer more personalized features like writing tools, generation of emojis, new gallery layout, and many more. Some speculate it could disrupt businesses like Grammarly and AI startups that a lack value, while others raise privacy concerns.

European Union lowkey agrees with Elon on that matter because we will not be seeing their AI features soon. Due to GDPR and DMA regulation in the EU, Apple was forced to delay launches of their new features including Apple Intelligence.

Claude 3.5 outperforms Chat GPT 4.0

Anthropic recently launched their newest model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, and it's living up to the hype. To be precise, it operates at twice the speed of Claude 3.0 and particularly beats Chat GPT 4.0  in visual benchmarks.

From our personal experience, Claude 3.5 comes in handy when we input bigger tasks. While GPT 4.0 prefers concise prompts, Claude 3.5 can interpret XML tags we use to structure detailed prompts, including tone of voice, structure, and keywords, with impressive precision.

It's worth noting that Claude seems to have a better grasp on humor. During our summer party presentation prep, Claude's responses were genuinely funny, while GPT 4.0's attempts at humor felt a bit... well, cringe.

Figma’s new update

Figma is bringing AI to the design table with a suite of new features aimed at boosting your productivity and creativity. We're talking visual search, design and layout generation, instant prototyping, and even automatic layer naming. Pretty cool, right?

But wait, there's more. They've also rolled out Figma Slides, a new presentation tool that lets anyone create eye-catching, interactive presentations.

All these new features are in Beta now, but don't get too comfortable – they might move to a paid version soon. So why wait? Give it a try.

Google flopped AI overviews

Google's new AI overview feature, designed to "google for you," hit a snag when Reddit users flooded it with nonsensical answers to queries. This led to some questionable recommendations appearing in results, like "you should eat rock at least once a day."

While Google refines its technology, alternatives like Perplexity AI are gaining traction. Perplexity AI provides structured responses with relevant sources, offering a more reliable research experience. In fact, some of the news in this blog were found with Perplexity 😉

Meta's AI will be training on Social Media Posts

Yes, you heard that right, Meta Platforms plans to use publicly shared social media content from Europe to train its generative AI models, despite EU’s privacy regulations. The reason is Meta is looking to advance their AI capabilities, improving targeted advertising and content recommendations.

However, if you don’t want Meta training on your content, keep in mind that you need to explicitly opt out by manually submitting a form.

Adobe Express x TikTok Integration

This June, TikTok partnered with Adobe Express to allow users to create AI-generated content using a library of commercially available music. Through an add-on within Adobe Express, businesses can now access over a million pre-cleared, copyright-free songs.

And we tried it out so you don’t have to!

The TikTok AI Harmony assistant is supposed to generate ideas and find music for trending videos. And at first, it seemed to give an impressive result with the suggested prompt; however, when asked to generate ideas targeting marketing professionals, it hit us with an “apology” message.

For real insights into video marketing trends, we recommend checking out TikTok's Mid 2024 trends report.

As for the music library, it was okay. Or was it? Here are the suggestions for trending audio by the AI Harmony assistant:

Our favourite tools this month:

Adobe Podcast: An impressive tool that allows you to check your mic and enhance audio with AI. Its automated transcription feature simplifies audio editing by making it as easy as "select and delete" action.

Eleven Labs: A great option for video marketing if you lack a mic or time for creating voiceovers. Simply input your text, choose an AI voice, and you've got a polished explainer video.

Wepost is the best tool for social media marketing because you don’t have to worry about design and text! We handle everything for you, so be sure to check our plans.

Inspiring AI use cases of the month

You know, we believe that AI can and should be used for good, so let’s finish up the blog with some inspirational use cases of AI.

This June, we saw a first ever brand film created with SORA from Toys"R"Us. It’s a heart-warming story about the foundation of the toy’s brand. This is also a very impressive result for SORA from Open AI.

Finally, what can be better than animals? Pedigree's 'Adoptable' initiative is using AI to turn shelter dog pictures into high-quality studio images, turning them into any Pedigree digital ad. Developed with Colenso BBDO and Nexus Studios, AI accurately replicates the body structure and unique features of various dog breeds, which will find their forever home easier now!

That wraps up the key AI marketing news for June 2024. If you want to keep ahead of the AI marketing, subscribe to our newsletter to not miss next month’s issue.
